Robinson Crusoe is a representative work of Darnell Defoe, a British writer in the 18th century. It is also a work of wide worldwide influence.The novel is based on the story of A Scottish sailor, Alexander Serrichelloch, who in 1704 was stranded on a desert island and lived alone for four years before he was rescued. Robinson, the hero of the novel, is a young man who likes taking risks. In spite of his father's dissuasion, he was determined to live at sea. Some of the first voyages were successful, but once they were captured by Turkish pirates and escaped to work in sugar cane fields and sugar mills in Brazil.
